A formal ceremony on the occasion of the Kurgan CHP-2 commercial operation commencement was held in Kurgan

A formal ceremony on the occasion of the Kurgan CHP-2 commercial operation commencement (225MW/ 250 Gcal/h) was held in Kurgan on March 4, 2014.

The ceremony was attended by acting Governor of the Kurgan region Alexey Kokorin, former Governor of the Kurgan region Oleg Bogomolov, Governor of the Tyumen region Vladimir Yakushev, Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District Natalya Komarova, Governor of the Yamal-Nenetz Autonomous District Dmitry Kobylkin, representatives of the NP “Market Council” and power generating companies.

Kurgan CHP-2 has become the first large heat and power generation facility, commissioned in the Transural area in the last 50 years. The plant electric output is 225 MW; the heat output is 250 Gcal/h. The power plant has been built by “Intertechelectro” Group of companies.

Acting Governor of the Kurgan region Alexey Kokorin highly appreciated the power plant significance for the Transurals development: “Today one of the largest investment projects in the Kurgan region has been completed. This project is of tremendous importance to us. It will ensure a strategic development of Kurgan, enhance the energy security of the Kurgan city and region”. Alexey Kokorin congratulated the personnel on the commencement of the plant commercial operation.

Chairman of the Board of LLC “Intertechelectro – New Generation” Artyom Bikov emphasized that the Intertechelectro Group of companies intends to continue the dynamic implementation of investment projects in the Kurgan energy sector. “The construction of a mini CHP, built on the premises of the KWTP boiler house, is already underway; its commissioning will eliminate the energy shortage in Kurgan. Energetic efforts are in progress for the implementation of the Wind Farm Construction Project in the Kurgan region. I would like to express my gratitude to the management of the Kurgan region for a most favorable investment climate, created in the region, and the attention that the Governor of the Transurals area paid to the construction of CHP-2”.

During the ceremony the distinguished guests went around the engine hall and the plant equipment. Kurgan CHP-2 - is one of the more technically advanced power facilities of its type in the territory of the Ural Federal District. The power plant incorporates General Electric F-class gas turbines, leading among gas turbine units in the overall operating life, reliability and availability, as well as Siemens steam turbines.

Commissioning of Kurgan CHP-2 has provided for a 40% reduction of the existing power shortage, ensured a reliable and trouble-free power and heat service to consumers of the Kurgan region, created a capacity reserve for a further development of Kurgan. The power plant construction has allowed for over 150 new jobs.
