Major equipment installation is started at Kurgan HPP-2

16 February 2010

One of the critical construction steps has been started at the Kurgan HPP-2. Major equipment (gas and steam turbines and water heating boilers) installation will be done in the near future.

As of today, the 1st steam turbine with the load gear is mounted on the foundation. The main building has already water heating boilers’ frames installed, heating surfaces’ modules are erected, HRSG’s foundations have been made. In the near future gas turbines, generators and 2nd steam turbine will be put on the pedestals and auxiliary equipment installation will be launched. All the works are supervised by the manufacturers’ technical advisors.

The main building wall panels and roof have been installed on the Kurgan HPP-2 site, heat is supplied, steam and gas turbines’ foundations are erected, administrative and auxiliary blocks’ structural steel installation is finished, they are being cladded at the moment. Fan cooling tower pool, circulating pumping coast station and feed-water pumping station and gas treatment point is being installed. ABB power transformers have been delivered to the site.

The Kurgan HPP-2 will comprise 2 power units, 111 MW each. Each power unit consists of the General Electric 76 MW PG 6111FA gas turbine, Siemens 35 MW SST-400 steam cogeneration turbine and HRSG. The HPP installed electric output is 222 MW, heat power being 250 Gcal/h. The Kurgan HPP-2 construction will allow improving the Kurgan region power supply and provide conditions for social and economic development of the city and region.
