The Kurgan CHPP-2 gas turbines tests are completed
23 June 2009
The factory tests included inspection of general mechanical condition, aerodynamic and thermodynamic characteristics and vibrations of the turbines bearings. At the tests the turbines were working FSNL within several hours after what the inspectors measured the wheel space, compressor, bearings and oil temperatures. From time to time the turbine bearings and shaft vibrations were checked as well. The testing results showed full compliance of the turbine working parameters to the specified norms.
The GE 6FA middle class gas turbine unit is built on the basis of the F-class state-of-the-art technology. 6FA differs with high efficiency and reliability and designed for heavy duty operation. Such GT units have worked overall more than 2 million hours in 30 countries. The Kurgan CHPP-2 will have installed the anniversary, one hundredth GE 6FA unit and the 1st unit of this type in Russia.
The Kurgan CHPP-2 will comprise 2 power units, 111 MW each. Each power unit consists of the General Electric 76 MW PG 6111FA gas turbine, Siemens 35 MW SST-400 steam cogeneration turbine and HRSG. The CHPP installed electric output is 222 MW, the heat power being 250 Gcal/h. The Kurgan CHPP-2 construction will allow improving the Kurgan region power supply, covering by more than 40% the existing power deficit and provide conditions for social and economic development of the city and region.
