A groundbreaking ceremony, dedicated to the 220MW CCPP construction project, implemented by “Intertechelectro”, was held at Kirov HPP-3 in Kirovo-Chepetsk (the Kirov region).

The ceremony was attended by Governor of the Kirov region Nikita Belykh, Chief Federal Inspector in the Kirov region Ferdauis Yusupov, First Deputy General Director of CJSC "IES" Andrew Wagner, General Director of CJSC "Intertechelectro" Vladimir Babyak.

Nikita Belykh, who opened the ceremony, described the CCPP construction at Kirov HPP-3 as a milestone event for the region. "The project implementation parameters and its investment volume are impressive. But most importantly, the new combined-cycle power plant will provide a higher degree of reliability to our energy sector, help reduce production costs, create opportunities for new business development that will require electric and thermal power ", - said Governor of the Kirov region.

Andrew Wagner pointed out that the capital improvement of HPP-3, which celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2012, has been the largest generation project in the Kirov region over the past decades that will give impetus to the regional economy development, providing a reduction in the energy shortage. When asked about the General contractor selection, Andrew Wagner said that "Intertechelectro" won the competitive tender for the project, based on its ample experience in the construction of similar plants. According to General Director of CJSC "Intertechelectro" Vladimir Babyak, it is a great honor to the company to act as General Contractor within the framework of a construction project that will provide a new state-of-the-art power generation facility for the Kirov region residents. "We can say that today we are pouring the first cubic meters of concrete not only in the new plant foundation, but also in the foundations of new residential houses and industrial plants that can be built, subject to commissioning of the new generating capacities," - commented Vladimir Babyak.

The Kirov HPP-3 capital improvement is a priority investment project for the IES-Holding. Its main objective is to increase the electrical and thermal power generating capacity to cover the existing power deficit in the Kirov power system. The plant main equipment will include a 160MW GTE-160 gas turbine, made by JSC "Power machines", a 60MW steam cogeneration turbine, manufactured by CJSC "The Ural Turbine Works" and a waste heat boiler, made by JSC "EMAlliance”. The CCPP electric capacity will total 220MW, and its thermal capacity will amount to 136Gcal / h. CJSC "Intertechelectro" will carry out construction and erection works at all the facilities and installations, supply a complete package of the auxiliary equipment, perform commissioning and start-up operations.
