Commissioning works at Kurgan HPP-2

Construction of 222 MW/250 Gcal/h Kurgan HPP-2 is coming to an end. The Intertechelectro and main equipment manufacturers’ specialists got down to commissioning works.

Now installation works on water-heating boilers and auxiliary equipment are almost done. The boilers are planned to be ready in November 2011 and to support HPP-1 in peak loads. The steam turbines and HRSG’s installation and bundling is being finished, plant heat power distribution scheme involving 7.4 km main pipeline routing was made, chemical water treatment section 110 kV open switchgear has almost been assembled, finishing works and land improvements are in progress.

At present the Intertechelectro and main equipment manufacturers’ specialists got down to commissioning works. The HPP-2 is equipped with the machinery of global leading producers (General Electric GE6FA gas turbines, Siemens SST-400 steam turbines, ABB electric equipment and automation systems). The GT firing is scheduled for the 4th quarter of 2011 but this is preceded by a number of activities such as gas facilities preparation, oil circulation, jacking gearing and gas supply.

The JSC Intertechelectro management says that judging by the company experience, putting in operation such a state-of-the-art and technically sophisticated machinery requires specific accuracy and better decisions, then the equipment will work continuously, safely and reliably for a long time.

The power plant construction project implementation is the first step of a large-scale modernization program related to the region power system in which Intertechelectro-New Generation will be one of the most active participants.
