The 1st Kurgan CHPP-2 project Siemens steam turbine has been delivered to site

The 1st Siemens SST-400 steam turbine for the Kurgan CHPP-2 has been delivered to the site. The 2nd steam turbine delivery is expected by the end of 2009.
The Kurgan CHPP-2 1st power unit steam turbine was shipped from the Siemens factory in Brno and delivered to Saint-Petersburg by sea via Lubec. The turbine weighing 80 tons was transported by railway to site. The 2nd turbine will be supplied at the end of 2009 the same way.
The 35 MW Siemens SST-400 steam turbine is a single cylinder one and equipped with a load gear designed to be used as the generators drive. SST-400 is distinguished by high reliability and efficiency, compactness and simple maintenance. At present the main building structural steel installation is completed on site, wall panels and roof are being assembled, cooling tower pool is being arranged, steam and gas turbines and water heating boilers foundations are grouted.
The Kurgan CHPP-2 will comprise 2 power units, 111 MW each. Each power unit consists of the General Electric 76 MW PG 6111FA gas turbine, Siemens 35 MW SST-400 steam cogeneration turbine and HRSG. The CHPP installed electric output is 222 MW, heat power being 250 Gcal/h. The Kurgan CHPP-2 construction will allow improving the Kurgan region power supply, covering by more than 40% the existing power deficit and provide conditions for social and economic development of the city and region.
